The Black Belts of Specialized Human Behavioral

November 23, 2011

The California Unified Service Providers, L.L.C. (CUSP) is an organization that provides state-of-the-art behavior analytic interventions. Eric W. Maier, M.A., B.C.B.A. established the CUSP organization in Torrance, California in 2004 after spending nearly a decade training and teaching Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at Headquarters. The mission of the organization is to help people meet their maximum potential by designing programs/ interventions with the aim of changing human behavior to meet each client's needs. CUSP is comprised of two major divisions:

The CUSP Developmental Disability Division deals with designing behavioral treatments for individuals diagnosed with developmental delays such as Autism, Aspergers, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile-X Syndrome, Down Syndrome, and other related developmental disabilities. Each individual's specific strengths and weaknesses guide the design of a highly individualized program that teaches prerequisite skills important to achieve independent functioning in the least restrictive environment. In doing so, the treatment narrows the gap between the individual's chronological and mental age. The techniques used by CUSP are based on the principles of Behavior Analysis. The content of CUSP's comprehensive program includes verbal behavior, listener behavior, adaptive living skills, fine & gross motor skills, school readiness, self-management, perspective talking skills, problem solving/planning skills, social skills, and all the foundation skills essential for the appropriate functioning in the natural environment.

The CUSP Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) Division provides training and management solutions for individuals and organizations. Their consultants and associates are experts in Applied Behavior Analysis and Corporate Management. At the organizational level, CUSP specializes in staff training, staff performance management, and system analysis. Their team intervenes rapidly, effectively, and respectfully with the support and collaboration of the client's upper management. CUSP's mission is to help clients realize the potential of their employees. Human performance issues related to productivity, quality, timeliness, cost reduction, safety, and accountability is addressed so that corporate management can continue to achieve the goals of the organization. Their consultants specialize in applying behavior-based methods for performance improvement in healthcare industries as well as in public or private manufacturing services and retail businesses.
